ProtoCAM in the Community: Collaborating with the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation

March 4, 2020

UPDATE: THE GALA EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED, BUT THE WINNERS WERE STILL HONORED AND AWARDED

ProtoCAM was once again asked by the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation, Inc. to 3D print the logos of all 32 National Football League (NFL) teams for the annual Ed Block Courage Awards Gala this year. The award recognizes one player from each NFL team for their demonstrated courage and inspiration throughout the season.

The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to supporting the well-being of abused, neglected and at-risk children throughout their Courage House National Support Network for Kids. Through partnership with the NFL, the Foundation cultivates awareness at each child abuse/at-risk youth facility (labeled Courage Houses) and helps to raise funds for their programs and initiatives.

Each NFL team is partnered with a Courage House in their region. Teams support their facilities in many different ways throughout the year, including hosting fundraising events, player visits with the kids, visits for Courage House at the team facilities, attendance to fundraising events, in-kind gifts for the children, autographed memorabilia donations and ticket donations, among many other initiatives.

The award presented to each specially chosen NFL player is a unique helmet with their team’s 3D-printed logo affixed. ProtoCAM printed the 32 logos for the helmets using our Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology, which utilizes fusing and detailing agents alongside diffusing energy to produce strong, highly-detailed parts. The logos were then affixed to the helmets and plated in nickel by the metal plating experts at RePliform.

The awards ceremony for the chosen players will take place March 28th in Baltimore, MD. During their stay, the players will also participate in two community outreaches with local at-risk youth at a designated Baltimore City Rec Center and with abused children at St. Vincent’s Villa (Baltimore Ravens Courage House). These yearly awards events are meant to inspire the local youth, as well as the players, to go back to their local communities and get involved with their designated Courage Houses. ProtoCAM is thrilled to be a part of this project, which provides life-changing aid to so many deserving youth!
