For those of you who do not wish to send
your files via email (or have a limitation on the size you
can send), or do not wish to use our web upload feature, you
may send your 3D parts to us for rapid prototyping via FTP. We recognize that the security of your project and your files is a very important concern. Although you can see the filenames of your project (and others) in the incoming directory of our FTP server, you cannot download any of the files - feel free to try it out. If
this doesn't adequately address your security concerns, we
would be happy to make special arrangements for you.
For those who are comfortable transferring files with FTP, here are the necessary details:
| FTP Server: |
ftp.protocam.com |
| Port: |
21 (default) |
| IP: |
209.92.179.9* |
| Username: |
anonymous |
| Password: |
your email address |
| Directory: |
/incoming/ |
After you've uploaded your files, make sure to send a mail to let us know what you want done with them - including quantities per part, resin, tolerances, and anything else that can help us meet your needs.
If you're not familiar or comfortable with
FTP, we've evaluated several of the programs (for Windows) on
the market, and have identified one that is both powerful and
free: SmartFTP. Please follow the instructions on this
page, but if you have any questions about them, please call our
main number - (610) 261-9010 - we'd be happy to help you.
Instructions for connecting to ProtoCAM's FTP with SmartFTP
 |
Download and install SmartFTP from the website: http://www.smartftp.com/ |
 |
Run SmartFTP, and configure it with your email address by accessing the settings by going to the Tools menu and choosing Settings. |
 |
Under the File menu, select Connect. |
 |
Under the address toolbar, type in ftp.protocam.com. Under the Login toolbar, make sure it's set to port 21 and anonymous. Press Enter to connect. |
 |
If you haven't changed your email address, you will not log in successfully. Change your email address as described above and retry. |
 |
Once you've logged on to our FTP site, change to the Incoming directory (the only one with write access). |
 |
To upload your files, go to the Commands menu, pick Upload then pick Select Files. Select your files and press Okay. |
After you're done, close SmartFTP and make sure to send an email to let us know what you want done with them - including quantities per part, resin, tolerances, and anything else that can help us meet your needs.
